Eichberg Hall at the Savannah College of Art and Design

The same technology used by NASA on the Space Shuttle has been selected for the historic preservation of the massive tin roof at the Savannah College of Art & Design (SCAD). Although the parameters for both projects are worlds apart, oddly enough, both have a key requirement in common: the need for high-performance protection from environmental extremes.

Emlen Physick Estate

The Emlen Physick Estate in historic Cape May, New Jersey, is the town's only Victorian house museum. Attributed to renowned architect Frank Furness, the house was built in 1879 in the "Stick Style" with the characteristic exterior wall patterns of varying textures divided by rectangular grids of flat wooden boards. Now open to the public, the property is owned by the Mid-Atlantic Center for the Arts (MAC), a non-profit organization that was formed in 1970 to rescue the historic property from the wrecker's ball.

The Mainstay Inn

"Architecturally, no inn, anywhere, quite matches the Mainstay," says Paul Grimes of Conde Nast Traveler. Built in 1872 as a gentlemen's gambling club and hotel, the Mainstay Inn of Cape May, NJ, is recognized as an architectural jewel in a town filled with elegant summer homes and grand Victorian public buildings.
