Did you know that many homes and buildings built before 1978 have lead-based paint? The federal government did not ban the use of lead paint on homes until the 1970’s. This can be a problem for you or your customers, especially those with historic homes. 

In recent action by the Environmental Protection Agency 16 painters, roofers, remodelers, and other contractors were cited for violation of the Lead Based Paint Renovation, Repair, and Painting (RRP) Rule. Fines in settlements reached with 13 of the firms totaled $53,792 and EPA is persuing administrative complaints against the 3 others and is seeking civil penalties up to the statutory maximum of $37,500 per violation.
